Olivia is a fashion design graduate with great passion for all she does. She has a strong interest in the Australian wool industry and discovering and understanding the relationship between fashion and art in her practice. With a strong focus on innovation in the creation of contemporary and conceptual knitwear design using her 1960’s vintage knitting machine she produced her Zero waste knitwear collection from her bedroom during Melbourne’s 2020 4 Month Lockdown. She has a love and passion of working with natural fibres, mainly Australian wool and cotton. Olivia employs her artistic like practice to her design work. Olivia often draws inspiration from historical art and fashion, and the basic elements and principals of art and design. Olivia’s practice has also been greatly centred around working with upcycled materials, and vintage wool and yarn cones. Olivia recently had the honour of being one of 10 finalists nation-wide for the 2020 Australian Fashion Foundation Scholarship Award in December 2020, and recently in March 2021, exhibited her work on the runway, in the prestigious Melbourne Fashion Festivals National Graduate Showcase. A true privilege and a testament to her innovative and focused approach to her work. Olivia has also been featured in multiple publications and magazines, exploring her work, her collection and her design style. Olivia sent her work to be featured in VOGUE AUSTRALIA’S SEPTEMPER 2021 ISSUE all about up and coming designers, and new beginnings for the Australian fashion industry.
